Artist Statement
The forms, textures and piercings in my collections are inspired by the fine art and craft I’ve seen throughout the USA as well as in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
My work is handmade and either one-of-a-kind or cast into very limited quantities. Juxtaposing unexpected shapes and forms and marrying pure metals using the Keum Boo method are among my favorite ways to design and fabricate.
All of my designs carry my hope that the wearer will feel pleasure each time it is worn.
Background
I acquired most of my training in the metal arts from Jiwon Han, Bernard Bernstein and Janice Gryxb at the 92nd Street Y in Manhattan. I’ve also taken a metals class at the State University of New York in New Paltz and a workshop from master designer and metal smith, Michael Good.
I am a member of Queen City 15 a collaboration of established and emerging artists who exhibit in our gallery at 317 Main St. Poughkeepsie, NY. You can also see some of my work at our website: https://www.queencity15.com
